Form I-94 Arrival/Departure form to be phased out…….

As of April 30, 2013, United States Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) will no longer issue physical I-94 Arrival / Departure forms. The arrival / departure process will now be electronically automated. Upon arrival in the USA by air or sea, CBP will gather travel information automatically from the artist’s travel records and will enter the artist’s visa classification and departure date electronically.

Note: as advance information is only transmitted for air and sea travelers, CBP will continue to issue paper form I-94 to those entering at land ports (most often meaning Canadians and Mexicans).  Read more on Entering the USA in our Visa section.

Foreign Artists performing with a U.S. based group….

The Vermont and California Service Centers have implemented a new policy wherein an individual foreign artist who is performing as a member of a U.S. based group is eligible to apply for a P-1B visa classification based on the reputation of the U.S. group. In the past, the P-1B was only for foreign groups. Note that the foreign performer can only work for the group that the P-1B is based on. The O-1B remains the proper classification for a foreign individual who will be performing solo and/or with other groups with an itinerary based petition.
