Lorenzo Micheli and Matteo Mela will give the world premiere of Alexandre Tansman's newly discovered Sonatine
Saturday, February 22, 2014
St. Mark's Lutheran Church
San Francisco, CA
Presented by the Omni Foundation for the Performing Arts.
This four-movement work was written by Tansman upon request of Andres Segovia one year after the composer's most famous guitar piece, Cavatina. Sonatine was originally composed for one imaginary guitar with extended polyphonic and harmonic resources: the use of a second guitar seems therefore more suitable to render its thick musical texture.
Sonatine – edited by Angelo Gilardino, Luigi Biscaldi, and Frédéric Zigante – will be published by Bèrben Editions in 2014.
